Barack Obama's campaign continues to show its adeptness at the Internets. Tonight, the official Obama blog announced a document repository on web-based document site Scribd.
Our official Scribd page will be a resource for policy and issue information, as well as important statements
Here's a link to the official Scribd page.
Think of Scribd as a YouTube for documents. They even allow you to embed documents on your web page, although DKos won't allow the embeds, apparently (trust me - I tried). Here's an example link of a specific Obama initiative - the Emergency Economic Plan announced yesterday.
What do you think? This could be very useful if the campaign uses it in ways other than a traditional HTML web page. It's also a good way for pro-Obama bloggers to embed position papers and challenge the "all talk" spin from the GOP campaign.
Jason Kincaid at Tech Crunch notes:
Scribd’s inclusion in the Obama campaign isn’t surprising given the candidate’s adoption of web-centric services like Twitter (his official account has over 52,000 followers). In contrast, opposing candidate John McCain has admitted to not being particularity tech savvy, though as we noted in our endorsements for the candidates, his policies will matter far more than what web 2.0 services he’s fond of.
