Expanding on some thoughts I had while reading these disturbing diaries from Georgia10 and GregMitch.
Follow me below as I explain why I'm not worried.
I was at the Springfield rally where Obama announced Joe Biden as his running mate, and I can tell you from personal experience that the security was air tight.
Here are two photos of the snipers/security who were on rooftops.
There were at least 15 of these guys patrolling the rooftops with HUGE binoculars in Springfield. Some looked like military, some were most likely FBI and state police. But they all looked like they were taking their job VERY seriously.
And that's not even mentioning the countless secret service agents and local police who were securing the crowd. Nobody was treated poorly, but it was clear that nobody was taking anything for granted.
Here was the scene at the security checkpoint:
No water bottles, no backpacks, no bullsh*t. We all had to go through a metal detector to get to the area where Barack was speaking.
I'm not saying that it's perfect, but I do want to point out that there are countless dedicated and talented law enforcement officers who are doing their best to protect Barack and his family from the idiots who would try to derail democracy through violent means.
Let's give them their due.
